With each performance, Blake Noble reinvents the traditional image of a one-man band."
"Most of the album is instrumental. Not everyone can pull this off. His music at times seems to tell stories that most bands and musicians can’t convey on their best days."
"...sounds great!! the Video [Perpetual Leader] is so good too ..Great works just keep on coming out of Australia"
"Amazing Skills! Seattle is used to rain, so hopefully they won't be too upset when you take them by storm"
"Blake Noble doesn't play the guitar like most people do, he attacks it like Richie Havens used to, just beating on it, turning it into a percussion instrument. There's a raw energy to his playing that makes that necessary, as though his energy can't be fully expressed just by the strings."
"Amazing stuff. And great playing - your stuff is both complex and accesible, which is what I always strive for in my writing. Great work."
"You can feel your mood actually surrender to the power of this new, yet familiar music."
"His quick strumming and drumming on the guitar resembled a style made popular by Rodrigo y Gabriela and the low vibrations of the didjeridoo echoed through the open field. Noble deserves to be heard by many."
"When Blake Noble views his 12-string guitar, he sees not only the steel strings, but the whole percussive potential of the hollow body"
BLAKE NOBLE - ROOTS/WORLD/ROCK
Blake Noble is an Australian Guitarist and Didgeridoo player known for his incredible and unique 'Percussive Guitar' style played simultaneously with the ancient Australian Didgeridoo. A musician's musician who transcends genres and ages, captivating audiences both young and old here in the Pacific Northwest, and abroad.
In the last few years, Blake Noble has rapidly gained attention while touring in Australia, New Zealand, America and France, with impressive opening slots for The John Butler Trio, Jon Gomm, IRMA, Austin Jenckes, Cody Beebe & the Crooks, Hillstomp, Ivan & Alyosha, and shared the festival bill with the likes of fellow Aussie Xavier Rudd, The Cave Singers, Minus the Bear and many more. Seattle Weekly says "With each performance, Blake Noble reinvents the traditional image of a one-man band." Backbeat Seattle said "His music at times seems to tell stories that most bands and musicians can’t convey on their best days." Blake is a storyteller. A self taught guitarist, his unique style and jaw dropping live show have earned him comparisons to some of the Worlds best guitarists and garnered praise from them too.
Blake is also an accomplished player of the ancient Australian Didgeridoo, which he plays simultaneously with the guitar. Taught directly by the Aboriginal people on the East Coast of Australia, and later, given the (very rare) permission to both perform and teach Didgeridoo around the world by an Aboriginal Elder, Blake weaves stories and lessons of his homeland and the history of this incredible instrument into his live set. It is this, along with his humble demeanor and modern approach on the 12-string Guitar that has made Blake Noble stand out in a crowded music scene.
Now based in Seattle, Blake is rapidly gaining attention following the release of his second album, Underdog, which launched after a very successful kickstarter campaign that helped him raise over $10,000. The lead single, and beautifully filmed music video of Noble's song 'Perpetual Leader' became a semi-finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (top 8% of more than 19,000 entries), and was awarded 1st place in the World Music section of the 2013 Northwest Music Experience Awards.
Blake is one of very few musicians in the world who plays percussive 'lap tap' guitar (12-string) with Didgeridoo simultaneously, as he does in Perpetual Leader. Blake has appeared on numerous TV and radio shows in Seattle including Evening Magazine, New Day Northwest, Band in Seattle, The Bob Rivers Show, The Jet, and many more.
A self taught guitarist, gifted composer and energetic live performer, Blake is constantly exploring new musical opportunities with different instruments, different players and new styles.
Blake has opened for some great artists, including: Pickwick, The Cave Singers, Ivan & Alyosha, Alan White (Yes, John Lennon), John Popper (Blues Traveller), Lee Oskar, Bryan John Appleby, Eternal Fair, The Grizzled Mighty, Geoffrey Castle, Caspian Coberly, Kris Orlowski, Cody Beebe & the Crooks, The True Spokes (Flowmotion), Floater, Tango Alpha Tango, Aaron Daniel, Ben Union, Tim Snider, Marcus Eaton, Luc & the Lovingtons, Perry Acker, Van Eps, Tommy Simmons & many more.
